After a tremendous year of growth and development, the brothers of Alpha Pi Lambda finally received recognition at the 2008-2009 Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards Banquet for chapter wide success. The Fraternity received recognition in the five key areas of chapter performance: Programming, Membership Development, Community Relations, Citizenship (Risk Management) and Chapter Management. Apple Pi also was recognized as one of the few "Excellent Chapters" on Drexel University's campus.

This recognition is due in part to a number of key leaders in the fraternity that led the effort. Past President, Patrick Ward, who recently graduated, helped spearhead the effort alongside Shams Naim, recently elected President of the Interfraternity Council. Their leadership alongside a number of other officers and chairman was instrumental in the chapters success both in being recognized and growing as a chapter.

Without a doubt this year has been filled with accomplishments and milestones. In Fall 2008, Apple Pi received a positive vote from the Interfraternity Council on remaining local at Drexel University, and in Winter 2009, received a similar positive vote from the Greek Relations Board, a group consisting of both undergraduate and alumni members. Shortly thereafter, the Fraternity received a strong recommendation from the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Katie Peoples, and Dean of Students, Dr. David Ruth, to the University, removing the requirement to affliliate with a national fraternity (full letter can be seen here). The fraternity acknowledges and respects the University's decision, and looks forward to working alongside the Alpha Pi Lambda Alumni Corporation to continue to fulfill all requirements.
